At HBBC we understand that following Jesus means more than showing up for church on Sunday mornings. That’s why we offer a variety of groups to help build relationships, gain insights and find encouragement as we learn live God’s mission together. Here are some of the group ministries that we currently offer.
Our youth group is called Coram Deo which means “before the face of God”. The group meets Sunday evenings from 6pm to 8pm at the church building and is open to all Jr. High and High School students. Pastor Sonny leads these students in a fun time that encourages them to experience God’s presence in their daily lives. During the group meeting students enjoy the opportunity to hang out with each other, play games and hear a Bible lesson designed to help them learn to live God’s mission. Our Youth group also engages in a variety of special events and service opportunities throughout the year. Check out the events page to see what the Coram Deo group has coming up.
Our Seniors Group is made up of “just older youth”. This J.O.Y. group usually meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 9:30am in the Fellowship Hall of HBBC. Willis Gabbert leads this group and provides support and encouragement to our senior adults. To confirm the time and location of the next J.O.Y. meeting check our events page.
Young Families & Couples Group
Our young families and couples group usually meets from 4pm to 6pm at the church building on the last Sunday of each month. The group meets for a time of fellowship and mutual encouragement and benefits from the wisdom of mentor couples who take turns joining them to share insights about marriage and family life. Free babysitting is provided on site. Whether you’re pre-married, recently married, are in the early stages of raising a family or just need some encouragement and wisdom in this area you are welcome to attend any group meeting, regardless of your age.
Life groups are smaller groups who meet together regularly over a long period of time. They usually meet in the home of a group member. Groups vary in size and format as well as length and frequency of meetings. Group meetings often involve Bible study, prayer for one another and informal fellowship time. Despite their differences every life group provides an environment that allows its members to share life in Christ together on a deeper level. Contact the Church office for more information about Life Groups or if you’re interested in starting or joining a group.
It can be hard to get connected at a church full of people who already know each other. This can be especially challenging for college students and singles. That’s why on the third Sunday of every month HBBC puts on a special meal specifically for singles and folks who are newer to our community. Known simply as “The 3rd”, long-time church members provide food for a meal that takes place directly after the church service providing them with an opportunity to share a meal and some conversation with people they may not yet know very well. If you’re newish or simply looking for someone to share a meal with please join us after church on the next third Sunday of the month.
